Matt F’in Geiger has a twenty million dollar house? The company that agreed to buy his mansion for $21 million is not following through and now Geiger is suing. If you ever had any doubt that the NBA salary structures are completely out of whack, Matt Geiger is exhibit A. In his ten year NBA career Geiger never averaged more than 13.5 points per game and never averaged more than 8.5 rebounds a game.

Yet now he lives like a feudal lord. Don’t believe me. Here’s the Tampa Tribune’s description of his home,

The sale price for the 28,000-square-foot estate at 3385 Old Keystone Road had been listed at $19.9 million. The facilities, built in 2003, include a swimming pool and spa, a guest house and private tennis courts. The home has three floors and includes a game room, cigar room, theater, sauna room, cabana room and library.

The home was to come furnished, according to the lawsuit. Its master bedroom, for example, had a council table, a sofa, a coffee table, four chairs, three end tables, a sofa bench and a bed. Its game room had two pool tables, three pub tables and 30 leather bar stools.

“It’s kind of built for someone when I was in a different stage in my life,” Geiger said.

At some point in the millenia to come, after our civilization has long since passed, Geiger’s home is going to be excavated and aliens will believe he was our god. Sobering.

Surprise. The latest rumor percolating in the the Brett Favre douchepot has the New York Jets front-runners to land the malcontent quarterback’s services. According to Chris Mortensen, the Jets have asked for permission to talk to Favre once Favre’s reinstatement is complete. The Bucs, the front-runners just 24 hours ago, are also still interested.

The details about what the Packers would look for in return have not been revealed yet, but besides the quarterback doing blue jeans commercials for the rest of his life, Favre-to-the-Jets would seem to be a perfect scenario for the Pack. They’ll get rid of the albatross, get something in return, and Favre can end his career trying to find a receiver to throw to on a lowly Jets’ team. Take that, old man. Plus, with the Jets not on the Packers’ schedule this year, there’s absolutely no chance they’ll be faced with the possibility of an emotional upset win at the hands of the gunslinger. Unless, of course, both teams make the Super Bowl, which is about as likely as Favre suddenly gaining some of his tactfulness back.

Say it ain’t so. He’s going to take his Laker girl headband and cross back over the Atlantic if the Lakers don’t increase their current $2.6 million dollar offer. In a bit of strained reasoning Vujacic’s reps are arguing that no other NBA team is making Sasha an offer because they know the Lakers will match it.

Which is incredibly stupid because if you have the option to make opposing teams pay more money to sign their players wouldn’t you do it? More likely scenerio, Sasha Vujacic just isn’t that sought after. Especially not after Lakers brass have had to spend the entire off season watching Ray Allen, Ray Allen!, go one-on-one against Vujacic down the stretch and get uncontested lay-ups.
